snowtech10

I wrote earlier about how the highly successful UnTech (un)conference sprang up in the aftermath of the ASAE Technology Conference being canceled. In March, there will be another option for those interested in what the ASAE conference had to offer: SnowTech 2010. This one is co-sponsored by CommPartners and Web Courseworks, two companies that are very active in the learning technology space for associations. Here’s the quick rundown from the SnowTech site: [click to continue…]

Association E-learning: State of the Sector Update

by Jeff Cobb on February 11, 2010

In March 2009, we published Association E-learning: State of the Sector. With a new year under way, it seems like a good time to provide an update. So, to that end, we’ve put together a brief follow-up to the 2009 report to offer our views for e-learning in the sector in 2010.

For now I’m just going to get this up so that it is accessible, but I plan to say more about it in some follow up posts. Here’s the download link:

One other note to go with it – we are now also offering a complimentary copy of the condensed version of the 2009 Association E-learning: State of the Sector report to newsletter subscribers. You don’t have to have this for the 2010 update to make sense, but it does offer a lot of valuable detail and perspectives. Sign up and you will be sent a link to download it.

To be clear, the condensed report is not some fluff whitepaper or eBook. It offers 6o pages of content based off of numerous interviews with associations and responses by nearly 500 organizations to an extensive survey. You can out more about it on the newsletter sign-up page.

As you read either of these documents, we encourage you to come back here and comment, offer examples, opposing views, etc.

Enjoy,

Jeff

LinkedIn to Learning – LMSes, CEUs and More

February 11, 2010

I’ve written elsewhere about how I think LinkedIn can be a valuable learning tool. One of the features I highlighted was the ability to join and engage in Groups. As it happens, I’ve noted quite a few conversations in Groups over the past couple of weeks that I’m betting readers here might find valuable.  You [...]

#untech10 – Learning 2.0 in Action

February 10, 2010

Yesterday, a conference died and a new event – I won’t call it a conference – was born immediately in its wake. By 3:00 in the afternoon, it was clear that many attendees and speakers would not be able to make it the annual ASAE Technology Conference in DC, and it would be unsafe to [...]

We’re back with another installment in our series of interviews with learning management system (LMS) providers. This time around, we crossed the Atlantic (virtually, that is) to speak with Paul Dooley, CEO of Dublin-based WBT Systems, makers of the TopClass LMS.
As noted in our  Association Learning Management Systems report, I was somewhat surprised when WBT [...]

Gettin’ on the E-learning Track at ASAE

February 3, 2010

Next week I’ll be heading up to DC for the annual ASAE Technology Conference and I’m thrilled to know that this year’s conference will feature an e-learning track. (I prefer not to think of e-learning as belonging to the province of technology, but it’s still hard to argue that this is anything but a positive [...]

Association E-learning Newsletter – New Edition

January 21, 2010

I’ve just put out a new edition of the Association E-learning Newsletter and thought I’d take a minute to mention it, and perhaps convince you to subscribe, if you have not already.
While I do sometimes make mention of the Tagoras blog in the newsletter, the content is completely different. Basically, the newsletter represents an opportunity [...]

This time around in my series of interviews with learning management system (LMS) providers, I’m joined by Dr. Jason Cole, Chief Operating Officer for Remote-Learner, an official Moodle partner and provider of the Enterprise Learning Intelligence Suite for Moodle (ELIS).
One of the findings from our Association E-learning: State of the Sector report was that the [...]
