LearnSomething LearnPro+

The following are highlights from the LearnSomething LearnPro+ profile in the Association Learning Management Systems report.

According to LearnSomething, the LearnPro+ system was originally developed to support the delivery of an online continuing education program offered by the Florida Association of Insurance Agents. Since that time, it has been implemented at 130 associations—the largest number of associations of any of the systems profiled in this report.

LearnSomething stresses that its own status as an accredited provider of continuing education (CE) credit for the pharmacy industry makes it particularly attuned to the requirements associations have as CE providers. The LearnPro+ system has also been used to deliver high volumes of compliance-related training, particularly in connection with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Unlike the Isoph Blue system also offered by the company, the LearnPro+ system does not feature an integrated authoring tool. Instead, LearnSomething focuses on a “managed services” approach under which each client has an assigned administrator from LearnSomething’s staff. The administrator handles installing course content and other common tasks.

  • LearnSomething has implemented a “voucher code” system in LearnPro+ that facilitates collecting online evaluations from place-based trainings and issuing appropriate certificates to learners.
  • LearnPro+ has been integrated with the Community Server platform from Telligent to provide discussion board capabilities that can be made available on a course-by-course basis.
  • LearnPro+ has also been integrated with the Questionmark assessment platform (additional costs apply). Assessments must be created by a LearnSomething administrator, but Questionmark provides for sophisticated delivery and analysis of assessment questions.
  • LearnSomething has a small course catalog of its own—primarily in areas related to retail food and pharmacy—that it can make available to clients and also has established relationships with a number of off-the-shelf course content providers, including MindLeaders.
  • LearnSomething has instructional design and development staff who can develop courses to run on one of its two learning management systems or any other standards-compliant system.

LearnPro+ is among the most streamlined of the systems included in this report. While some organizations will find its feature set lacking, others will find the speed and simplicity with which it can be implemented, along with LearnSomething’s managed services approach, to be the right fit for their needs.
