This is the eighth installment in our series of interviews with learning management systems (LMS) providers – stay tuned for the final group over the next few weeks. In this one I talk with Tamer Ali, President of Digital Ignite. Digital Ignite, with its Crowd Wisdom LMS, is among the newer entrants into e-learning software for the association sector, but its founders come from VCampus, a publicly-traded company with a long history in the sector.
In the interview, Tamer compares the association LMS market to the association management system (AMS) market. Just as associations need something different from traditional business customer relationship management (CRM) systems like Salesforce and Siebel, Tamer argues associations need something different from the traditional LMS. Given Digital Ignite’s orientation towards some of the more social aspects of learning, we also discuss the range of opportunities and challenges that social media has brought to association education. Finally, we touch on the “B” word – boring – as it relates to a great deal of continuing education.
